Ever wondered what video game controller used the nunchuck? The Wii console had the Wii remote and the Nunchuck. The Nunchuck had the analog stick and the Wii remote was mostly used for motion. Both were needed in several games. Other games had controller options. I know that I had to use both for Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
The nunchuck was the first attachment released for the Wii remote. The Wii Wheel, Wii Zapper and the Classic controller came later.
Is the Wii Nunchuck Compatible with the Wii U?
Now you know that the Nunchuck was for the Wii, can it be used for the Wii U. Yes, it can. If the Wii U game has the option for the nunchuck, it can be used. However, not all games use the nunchuck, just like the Wii games. Some games in fact just use the Wii Remote. You cannot use the Wii U Gamepad or the Wii U Pro controllers on the Wii.
Who made the Wii then?
So who came up with the idea of the nunchuck, Wii remote and the Wii? The answer is Nintendo! According to wiki, the console came out on November 19, 2006. The Wii had to compete with Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, Donkey Kong and the Legend of Zelda, was quoted to say this about the Wii and its competitors."The consensus was that power isn't everything for a console. Too many powerful consoles can't coexist. It's like having only ferocious dinosaurs. They might fight and hasten their own extinction." Despite the Wii having to compete with two other consoles, it outsold the PS3 and the Xbox 360 combined in the fist half of 2007.
