Ever wonder what exactly is a video game controller? We use it to play video games but what makes it a controller? Keep reading to find out!
According to Wikipedia, a video game controller is an input device that is used to control an object in a video game. It is used with the console, whether it be an Xbox, Playstation, etc. or a computer.
It sends data to the console which in turn causes an action in the video game. For instance, let's say you are playing Super Mario World. Pressing the jump button will send information to the console telling it you want to jump. In turn, your character will jump on the screen.
Examples of controllers are mouse, keyboards, joysticks, gamepads, etc. Even footpads are controllers!
